Fusion17 - The City of Wagga Wagga

"La Fusión por Papel (paper)" - Fusion by Papel (Paper)

This Grande Folds Installation was created for the City of Wagga Wagga's Fusion17 Festival.

It featured giant origami flowers, fan-birds and cranes. There were over 2,000 folds all done by hand.

The installation was created as an extension of an existing public art piece located at the Sister City Walk.

Papel (Paper) collaborated with Melbourne based design artist, Emily Wills of Surface 122, to access the wall-paper designs she had created for the City of Wagga to commemorate its sister-city relationships with Kunming, China, Leavenworth, USA and Nordlingen, Germany.

The designs were printed on mass sheets of paper. Then they were folded into large scale origami flowers, fan-birds and cranes.

During the festival the public were invited to interact with this Grande Folds Installation.

Patrons could step into the gold frame and have their image captured by a professional photographer. It was a wonderful way of capturing and celebrating the city's diversity.
